Some pictures - life at Oxford

I took this last Thursday while I was waiting outside my tutor's office before my criminal law tutorial.  My "tute" starts at 5 and ends around 6:30.  By the time I get out, it's dark out.  It's starting to get really chilly too!
And this is what I see on my walk home! Don't you just love the clear blue sky in this country? :p
And to top it off... this is the super adorable birthday cake Dan got me to celebrate my 22nd!

Back in Business!

I am back! After a month away, I am so happy to be back online.  Basically, we moved to England and it has taken 1 month to get our internet up and running.  And I feel normal again.  I feel reborn, now that I have internet.  Have I become a cyborg? If so, I'm a super happy cyborg.

I have so much to write about.

But for now, I'm sitting at my desk, drinking green tea, listening to Ray Charles, and the rain in the background, while doing my readings for class.  I am happy.

Weekend Travels

You've packed a suitcase for a weekend getaway.
You're in the train now, looking out the window, watching the green country pass you by.
You get off the train.  The air is still and warm.  You walk with no particular destination in mind, and realise that you're in a field of flowers that seems to stretch on forever.

Re-watching Dead Poets Society

After spending the afternoon and early evening tutoring English, I came home and decided to re-watch Dead Poets Society.  My boyfriend hadn't seen it yet, which surprised me because in high school, it was one of my "group's" favorite films (I guess I had nerdy friends!) It had been a couple of years since I'd watched it, and I've fallen in love with it all over again.  My boyfriend loved it too.  How could you not?
Don't you love re-watching films years and years later, only to be surprised by them all over again?

New Flats

I bought these flats yesterday - I love the color, and they're really comfortable too!
I'm also on the lookout for skinny pants of this color too...

The shoes are Country Road.

Library Wanderings

Imagine spending the entire day, wandering through a hidden library, browsing the shelves
to finally come home in the afternoon,
to sit and read a book you borrowed from the library, a book filled with all the promise of a new book.  You read it, sipping at this.

Last few days of summer

Imagine relaxing on the deck of a boat, with your legs hanging off the edge, feeling the cool spray of the ocean
and eating raspberries off your fingers, one by one, savouring the summer...
You wake up and realise that it was all a dream.
You fell asleep in your hammock, but the warm rays lull you back to sleep.

Dreaming of Macarons

Imagine eating a vanilla macaron with a cup of French Earl Grey, while lounging in this seat by the window:
feeling the autumn sun against your face and toes, feeling the time pass slowly.

Looking Back

I graduated college in May and although the graduation ceremonies (there were lots of them) certainly felt real, it didn't really sink in that I had graduated until I realized, two months after, that I would not be returning after the summer.  I feel this especially now, when I'm on Facebook, and I get notifications about my friends starting their jobs, moving into their new apartments, or starting grad school programs.

Perhaps it was because high school seemed to stretch on forever but I thought, in the back of my mind, that college would never end.  Well, now it's ended.  I have a diploma hanging on my wall to prove it! And it's time to move onto the next phase of my life.  But just when I got used to living in the States, I find myself having to uproot myself and start everything up again in the UK.  As a teenager, I told myself I wanted to travel as much as possible - live in Paris for a couple of months, move to Rome for the next few.  Now that I'm a little older, I'm craving a little more stability.  So I'm both excited and nervous about the move.

I spent a phenomenal 4 years in the US. Although I lived in Boston, I interned in New York and DC and I'm missing those cities like crazy, as I sit writing this blog in a quiet Sydney suburb.

A friend took that photo at Think Coffee in New York, while we were waiting to get dinner with friends at a little Italian restaurant downtown.  I want to go back to New York sometime.

Over the next couple of weeks before I head over to the UK, I'll have to mentally preparing myself to get ready for the big move!

Michael Kors Watch + Repetto Flats

I have 2 items on my "lust" list right now:
A Michael Kors Rose Gold Plated Watch
and Repetto Flats

Creativity + Curiosity = Genius?

Swoon-worthy makeup and hair

This look feels so "fall" to me.  I love how pulled together she looks, the simplicity of her makeup and the dash of precise red.  And the loop in her hair is pretty cool too.

But because I didn't get to enjoy summer this year (I came from spring in Boston to winter in Australia,) I'm feeling this too:

Imagine biking through the streets of New York to go to a party like this:

And spending the night with friends who make you smile.  :)

Europe in my mind

This is what my mind eye sees when I think "Europe."
The very first time I went was as a tenth grader, and I remember arriving in Rome, feeling as though I had arrived in a magical place.  It is after all, so different from Sydney! Since then, I've lived in Boston for 4 years and I realize now that I had actually fallen in love with that place (despite its frigid winters.)  But Europe... doesn't it occupy a small place in everybody's hearts?

Making the Move

In about a month or so, my boyfriend and I will be starting a new life in Oxford in the UK.  We've already got our apartment (our very first place together!) and I'm so excited about furnishing it.  Here's some of my design inspiration:
